Setting up KaiBot
First time rules
Charging your KaiBot for the first time is an important step for proper battery activation and affects the performance and longevity of the device.
Firmware update
To access all the latest features, you’ll want to update your KaiBots firmware to the latest version.
Firmware update:
- When KaiBot is switched on, the current version can be seen in the boot screen
- KaiBot can be updated via Bluetooth from a computer or Chromebook. (not an iPad or iPhone)
- Visit the following page, https://kaiseducation.com/update/
- Click connect and look for the matching KaiBot ID
Charging
Charge your KaiBot with the included short USB charging cable.
Connect the KaiBot to any power supply, such as a plugged-in computer or a power outlet with a USB adapter, and let it charge for about 1 hour.
Power up
It’s time to switch KaiBot on with the yellow switch at the back and wait a short while for KaiBots internal computer to boot-up
Ready…
Once you see the unique Bluetooth pairing code displayed, you are ready!
Screen free
Grab your coding cards, your KaiBot comes with a set of basic coding cards (Advanced Coding Cards are available separately and also in Braille)
Look for the following cards and lay them down in an order like this…
You choose how to use KaiBot
KaiBot can be used in so many ways:
- Screen-free / unplugged using KaiBot, magnetic KaiTiles and the included Coding Cards.
- Pair KaiBot with an iPad and use with Swift Playgrounds with KaiBots Quest, for grades K-4
- Pair KaiBot with an iPad or Android tablet and use with Kainundrum lite, for grades K-5
- Pair KaiBot with a Chromebook, PC, or Mac computer and use with Kainundrum.com, for grades 4-8
KaiBot will move forward 2 tiles, which is equivalent to 12″ or 30 cm, and then it will stop.

Reminder, an asterisk (*) means you can add a number card.
KaiBot User Manual
You’re now ready to code your first sequence!
Tap KaiBot
Tap KaiBot on the [Record Start Program] card, this card is always the first card to be scanned.
Note the open bracket on the card.
Red LED,
lift KaiBot
Once each card is scanned, lift KaiBot about 1″ from the card until the LED & screen turns red.
You can now scan the next card and rinse & repeat.
End your program
You’ll need to scan a [Record Program End] and take note of the closing bracket.
3,2,1 ...
Once you tap the [Run Program] card, KaiBot will start a countdown and replay your program.
Note: If you just want to reply your program, simply just tap the [Run Program] card again.
Bugs
KaiBot can detect coding bugs. A bug is an unexpected condition that has happened and tells you what the error is, refer to the user guide.
