First Time Setup

To get started with KaiLab, we need to get a few things ticked off as a one time setup.

Step Instructions Notes/Tips
1 Create a teacher account & a classroom (we'll create the student accounts later)
https://app.kaisclan.com
Stick the QR code stickers on top of the robots and add the matching number to the back of the robot.
2 Kai's Eye robot tracker: Dedicate an iPad or old mobile phone to your robot kit (just 1 is needed for the kit). Install the Kai's Eye robot tracker app. Available on App Store or Android Play Store
This saves time having to set up the device each time.
3 Roll out the mat, make sure it's not in direct sunlight. If the mat is creased from shipping, hang in direct sunlight.

4 Initial Setup Check:
  • Did you calibrate the app okay?
  • Did you get the serial number scanned okay?
  • No → contact [email protected]
  • Did the Kai's Eye app connect correctly to the Internet?
  • No → refer to network whitelist for your IT
5 In Kai's Eye app: Pair the robots to their matching ID numbers. Kai's Clan RobotKai's Clan Robot and phone with Bluetooth
6 Scan the classroom code from the first step. Phone held horizontal in 2 handsQR code for Virtual Viewer
6 Place the tripod about 2 feet (0.61 m) away from the mat edge: place it on the logo side of the mat. Each section can be individually twisted to lock. Open all sections except the last section. Twist to lock.

Setting Up Student Codes in Your Classroom

Step Instructions Notes/Tips
1 In your classroom, select the backpack icon from the menu on the right. https://app.kaisclan.com/

2 For each robot being used, select the plus icon. A randomly generated name will be created. Keep the randomly generated names or create fake names instead of using student names to allow sharing and/or passing to next group.
